Teacher
I want to become a teacher so I can be able to reach to children who are at risk. Many children do not have a positive male figure in their life. I want to be that positive male figure in their life. The worst teacher I ever had was in eighth grade. This particular teacher had her picks. If you did not look a certain way or dress a certain way, she did not try to help you at all. The best teacher I had was in six grade. This teacher always encourage me and challenge me to do better. To this day, I still see that teacher and he still encourages me in the same way he did when I was in the six grade.

It is awesome that you want to teach at risk children. There are not many who have the patients. I also think it is great that you want to be a positive male figure in some children's lives. You are right, not many have a positive male figure or have one at all, so what better than to have a positive male figure at school where they see you for the majority of the day. It sucks that your teacher was very opinionated about what students wore or what they looked like. If that was the case, she did not need to be teaching. And it is great that your teacher encouraged you guys to do well and put you up to challenges. That is how people succeed better.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Crystal. Not enough children today have a positive male figure in there lifes. It is very good of you to want to teach the at risk students! That's amazing, I'm really not sure I could do that.
ReplyDeleteI think teachers should not be opinionated, although I see how it would be hard not to have favorite students... What your teacher did was wrong.
My positive teachers also are in contact with me. I love that they care that much!
I think it is great that you want to become a teacher. We need male role models in our schools. Many children do not have a male figures they can relate to.
ReplyDeleteTeachers should treat every child with respect and not show partiality. Children can sense when that is going on. All children deserve an equal opportunity to learn, speak, and be heard.
I agree with what has already been said. . . it is so important for children to have a positive male figure in their lives. I think this is especially true for at risk children. I admire you for your desire to reach out to them. I think it's great that you still see your sixth grade teacher and that he is still an encouragement to you. I would love to see some of the teachers I had in elementary and middle school and thank them for the job they did and let them know that their teaching had an impact on me.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what grade you want to teach? Or whether you're thinking about "little kids" or "big kids?"
ReplyDeleteHey Charles, I'm so excited we're in the same class again! I want to help children at risk too, and the children that people give up on. It's aweful when teachers have their picks. I never understood that.
